Senol (Shen) Yilmaz is a Programme Management Specialist in the office of the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General/Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator in the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq in Baghdad.
Prior to that, Shen served in the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism and the Department of Political Affairs in New York. He also worked as Associate Research Fellow at the Centre of Excellence for National Security in Singapore. As a Mercator Fellow, he carried out research on the nexus of terrorism and organised crime, with stints at the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin and UNODC’s regional office in Cairo.
For his Master’s degree, Shen studied international relations as a Fulbright Scholar at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University, NY, and the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He also holds a German degree in business law.
