Sandra Kebede is a German-Ethiopian political scientist. She works in the fields of Children’s Rights, Nuclear Justice, and Decolonization. Being rooted in Frankfurt and Addis Ababa and curious about what holds our multifaceted world together she spent the past years studying in Berlin, France, and San Antonio.
In recent years she worked at the German Federal Press Office and UNICEF Germany and engaged in fellowships by the German Institute for Integration and study trips to Kazakhstan by ICAN (International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons). Currently, she is working in the field of nuclear justice within the frame of the treaty on the prohibition of nuclear weapons. Her interest is to challenge paradigms through democracy.
As a teen, she founded a UNICEF youth group to utilize the language of the children’s rights convention to integrate teenagers into the political and social space of Frankfurt and later became an organizer for a German-Egyptian youth exchange on Sustainable Cities. The approach to making big shifts foreseeable has ranged from grassroots activism to qualitative research, to political education, to cultural events. In her spare time, she enjoys learning about music and dance history and music and spending time in nature.
