Ricardo Baptista-Leite
Ricardo Baptista Leite is the CEO of The International Digital Health and AI Research Collaborative, a global platform enabling inclusive and impactful research for digital health & AI. Prior to that, he served four consecutive terms as a member of the Portuguese National Parliament, was Vice President of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Parliamentary Board, and Head of Public Health at Católica University of Portugal. Furthermore, he has been part of the Board of Trustees of Virchow Foundation, a Berlin based foundation improving global health.
He is the founder and President of ‘UNITE Global Parliamentarians Network to End Infectious Diseases’, currently active in more than 80 countries, and Vice President of the ‘Parliamentary Network on The World Bank and International Monetary Fund’. He is a Mayoral Candidate and City Councillor of Sintra (2021 to the -present), and Former Deputy Mayor and Councillor of Cascais (2015-2017).
Prior to being elected as an MP, he was a practising physician trained in Infectious Diseases at the Western Lisbon Hospital Centre and an intern at the World Health Organization (Copenhagen). He completed his post-graduate studies at Johns Hopkins University, the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Medical School, and was a PhD candidate at Maastricht University.
Ricardo is the founder of ‘CREATING HEALTH – Research and Innovation Funding’ and co-founder of the ‘Estoril Conferences’. He is the main author of the book ‘A Road to a Cure’, among others.
