Dr Julia Harrer works as Desk Officer at the German Federal Foreign Office. In her PhD dissertation, she focused on state capacities in the context of disaster risk and undertook a study on Haiti and the Dominican Republic. She holds a Master’s degree in International and European Politics and Economics, and a Bachelor’s degree in Media/Communication and French Philology.
Previous employers include the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Permanent Mission of Maldives to the United Nations, the Körber Foundation and various German and international media outlets. As chairwoman of the “nefia” alumni network of the Mercator Fellowship on International Affairs and the former Robert Bosch Stiftungskolleg, Julia is dedicated to connecting alumni in an international context.
