Ebru Turhan works as an Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science & International Relations of the Turkish-German University of Istanbul. She was the coordinator of the Jean Monnet Module “INSITER-Inside the Turkey-EU Relations”, co-financed by the European Commission (2016- 2019). She also serves as a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for European Politics (IEP) in Berlin and as a Visiting Professor at the Technical University of Chemnitz.
Turhan received a Master’s degree in Contemporary European Studies from the University of Bath and a doctorate degree in Political Science from the University of Cologne. From 2006 to 2013, Turhan worked at the Berlin Representation of the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD), holding the position of Senior Expert and Project Manager. In 2013 and 2014, Turhan was a Mercator-IPC Fellow and post-doctoral researcher at Istanbul Policy Center (IPC) of the Sabancı University.
Turhan’s current research interests include EU-Turkey affairs, decolonising and degendering knowledge in IR/EU studies, external differentiated integration, German-Turkish relations, German foreign policy, frame analysis and postfunctionalism.
