Annette Ludwig is currently an Adviser to the Gender Equality Representative of the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin. Since joining the Foreign Service in 2002 she has served as a diplomat in Hanoi and in Lisbon and has worked in various positions at the headquarters (in the Office of the Minister of State, the Southern Africa Division and the Central Europe Division). Prior to this, she worked as a research assistant at the University of Hamburg and at the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg.
With a scholarship of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, Annette studied law and journalism in Hamburg and in Paris. She is convinced that inclusivity, diversity and gender equality are essential prerequisites for solving many of today’s global problems and that the implementation of a feminist foreign policy would make diplomacy more effective, resilient, legitimate and credible.
Annette is a single mother of three children. Besides spending time with her family, she enjoys reading, swimming and outdoor activities.
