Andreea Petre-Goncalves feels lucky to have spent the last two decades in the pursuit of justice, a good society and lives that are worth living.
Her career has taken her from social enterprises to NGOs and the EU institutions. She has worked on poverty, hunger, sustainability, health and human rights. Her advocacy has helped put little-understood problems on the policy agenda of the EU, the UN and other international bodies.
In 2019, with Brexit looming, she had a profound loss-of-faith moment. She began questioning the prevailing approaches to change, and their ability to withstand threats to liberal democracy and to inclusive cultural norms.
She moved from London to Brussels and set up Flare, a “think-and-do tank” that makes future visioning possible in real-life spaces, for people from all walks of life. She now devotes her energy to bringing to life a new societal narrative for our post-COVID future.
