Alejandro Ramos Cardoso

Alejandro Ramos Cardoso is a Mexican diplomat, currently serving as the Deputy Head of Mission at the Mexican Embassy in Brazil. Throughout his career, Alejandro has been posted to several key diplomatic missions, including the Mexican Embassies in Germany, New Zealand, and Chile, as well as the Consulate in Tucson, Arizona, USA. At the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alejandro has held various influential positions, including Chief of Staff to the Deputy Foreign Minister, Lead Advisor for G20 matters, and Deputy Director-General for Asia-Pacific.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations, along with a Master’s degree in Political Journalism. Additionally, he has pursued postgraduate studies in Political Science and Sociology at FLACSO-Argentina and completed an academic exchange at Sciences-Po/IEP in Bordeaux, France.

Alejandro is an Associate of the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations and was on the Editorial Board of the international section of the Mexican newspaper ‘Reforma’ in 2014. He has published numerous articles, book chapters, and reviews on public diplomacy, Mexican foreign policy, and international current events in prominent publications such as Foreign Affairs Latino América, the Mexican Journal of Foreign Policy, and The Hague Journal of Diplomacy.

With a strong interest in public and digital diplomacy, Alejandro focuses on the intersection of these fields and issues of disinformation. He is fluent in five languages, in addition to his native Spanish: English, French, Portuguese, German, and Italian. An alumnus of the German Federal Foreign Office, Alejandro participated in the 10th International Diplomats Programme in 2019 during his diplomatic posting in Berlin.
