At this year’s Athens Democracy Forum, GDL Member Dr Banu Pekol and Dr Giorgos Monogioudis, Project Supervisor at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Athens, hosted a session on “Memory and Heritage as Soft Diplomacy Tools.” Additionally, the GDL hosted fireside chat on anti-misinformation strategies with Andreas Kindl, German Ambassador to Greece, in conversation with GDL Member and journalist David Patrician.

The first Inclusive Diplomacy Lounge at the Bled Strategic Forum “A World of Parallel Realities” on 2 & 3 September 2024 offered the opportunity of a deep dive into the role of inclusive diplomacy in strengthening democracy.

The Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC 2024) gathered over 1,600 global experts on 07 and 08 October 2024, providing a platform to bridge science, policy, and practice in addressing today’s most pressing environmental challenges. The Global Diplomacy Lab (GDL), CIPSEM, the TES Academy of the German Environment Agency (UBA) and 17 international process participants showcased a replicable dialogue model for local applications in sustainability-related issues.

For the first-ever GDL Festival, hosted in Tunis and Utique, Tunisia, GDL Members, Leading Partners and the Secretariat reflected on the past 10 years of hosting over 40 Labs with topics including feminist policy, water diplomacy, climate change and inclusive cities with the aim of achieving its goal to advance Diplomacy 4.0.

The GDL contributed to the conference for the seventh year in a row.
