Simon Hartmann is a researcher and political consultant on counterterrorism. He is currently working on a North-Rhine-Westphalian parliamentary committee of inquiry scrutinising the 2016 Berlin truck attack.
Simon has several years of experience in security policy. Having witnessed the failed coup attempt in Turkey 2016, he became keen to gain expertise in this field. As Carlo Schmid Fellow in the European Commission, he became an adherent of international collaboration for accurate counter terrorism measures.
Simon holds a Master’s degree in European Studies from the Ruhr University Bochum and a Bachelor’s degree in History and Politics from the Albert Ludwig University Freiburg. He is passionate about internationalist and liberal thought as an alumnus of the Mercator Foundation and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.
