Bernard Srajner was born on the border between the then Yugoslavia (now Slovenia) and Austria. He studied mechanical engineering in Maribor, Slovenia, and worked for several companies in Slovenia (i.e. Gorenje) in the energy/logistic field, including the UK at BNL in the field of nuclear technology.
Employed by the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Slovenia since 1993, he has worked as a diplomat in Iran, Poland, Japan, China, Ireland (as the spouse of an Austrian diplomat), UAE, Croatia, the Republic of Korea and currently in the Russian Federation. While working on various missions, he gained considerable experience as a diplomat, from consular and economic affairs to the most demanding diplomatic matters, such as rescue missions (2010 – Fukushima, Japan), negotiations (2008 – China – Tibet) and global challenges.
