Prathima Manohar is an entrepreneur with a focus on sustainable living and eco-tourism. Prathima chairs the think-do-tank on Liveable Cities, The Urban Vision. She is the director of a portfolio of leisure hospitality resorts in coastal Karnataka in India. As an urbanist, she has worked on projects and researched on issues such as urban innovation, liveability, placemaking, affordable housing, participatory planning and green cities. As part of her tourism business, she is setting up a centre for micro enterprise aimed at training marginalised rural women entrepreneurs in sustainable living and well-being.
Prathima holds a BA in architecture. She was awarded Stanford University’s Fellowship at the Centre of Democracy Development & Rule of Law. She has been a Harvard Kennedy School Ash Center Fellow.
She hosts a series of talk shows on Design Disruption, Inclusive Cities and The Urban Manifesto. She has been a columnist on architecture, urban development and design with India’s leading news daily – The Times of India. She has been a contributing TV journalist with France24 and TF1. She has also written for the opinion pages of the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and has reviewed for the Architecture Record.
In 2017, she was listed as one of the Most Impactful Global Social Innovators at World CSR Day. She was awarded the top Next Generation Architects driving innovations in Indian Urbanscape by the iGen Design Forum 2016. She is CONSIUSA’s “Young Global Leaders” awardee.
