Global Diplomacy Lab

Organised by Global Diplomacy Lab (GDL) members Edna Martinez and Carolina Sheinfeld and Challenge Holder Daniel Gamboa from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Mexico and supported by Myriam Martinez in strategy design, the Lab “Social Innovation to Address the Nexus of Human Mobility and Development” aimed to co-design solutions for immigrant integration in Mexico.

In 2023, the City of Osnabrück celebrated 375 Years of the Peace of Westphalia. This peace treaty is the reason why Osnabrück bears the title City of Peace. To mark the end of the anniversary year, the city hosted the Youth Empowerment Lab, bringing together young people from all over the world and experts from the fields of research, business, art, culture and religion. The goal from the very beginning was to empower youth and strengthen their perspectives and ideas for a more peaceful future.

The Gender and Democracy Week, initiated by non-profit leaders Gabriela de la Torre and ElsaMarie DSilva in 2023, aims to spark meaningful conversations, amplify voices, and contribute to the advancement of gender equality in democratic contexts. Combining the two important themes of Gender and Democracy meant bringing the intersectional perspective to discussing topics like inclusion, urban living, violence against women, indigenous rights, climate change, youth leadership, technology and the role of the private sector.

Summing up the activities during the Memory in Presence Lab 2022, the four GDL members Julia Jaroschewski, Dagmar Hovestädt, Sonja Peteranderl and Julie August put together a comrehensive report to highlight the results and outcomes of the Lab in Argentina.
