Dr. Krishnendra Meena, Associate Professor of Political Geography, is interested in the ways that borders organise the lives of human beings around the world into political areas called states. He has been teaching courses on political geography and geopolitics. His work has focused on geopolitics, borders and the Indian Ocean region. He publishes regularly on these issues in academic journals and contributes to web magazines.
Currently he is also Secretary General of the Society for Indian Ocean Studies, a non-profit think-tank researching on the Indian Ocean. Dr. Meena’s recent work focuses on border theory and its relation to globalisation. In the case of Asia’s borders, European and North American ideas, concepts and theories are inadequate to explain the situation. More specifically, India faces a number of transboundary issues and has zones where there are disputes related to water sharing with neighbouring countries.
Dr. Meena intends to explore these transboundary issues in South Asia.
