Gharanai Khwakhuzhi is a former Afghani diplomat. He previously served as Director General for Regional Cooperation after being Deputy Director General for regional Cooperation and Political Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Furthermore, he served as First Secretary at the Embassy and Mission of Afghanistan to Belgium, the European Union and NATO, dealing with political and EU affairs.
Moreover, he served as the Deputy Director General for media relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Gharanai was born in Kandahar, Afghanistan, in 1984. After graduating from high school, he started university in Islamabad, Pakistan, and obtained his BSc (Hon.) in information technology in 2009. In 2013, he was awarded a postgraduate degree in political science and diplomacy.
Prior to his current appointment, he served as the deputy director general for media relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. His interests include history, sports, photography and travelling.
